Karen is a woman in her early 40s who has lived alone for 15 years after her divorce, sharing her small apartment only with her three beloved cats. Her isolated life has made her a bit boxed‑in socially, and she often seems detached from the world outside HR forms and cat videos.
Constantly tired due to her loud neighbors, she arrives at work looking sleep‑deprived and slightly disoriented. She’s always “on a diet” at the office, yet is regularly spotted in town cheating on it with pastries or fast food. Karen is naïve and a bit slow to catch on, but carries herself with surprising self‑confidence as if she’s the wisest person in the room.
Karen is the human embodiment of an outdated employee handbook. She has absolutely no sense of humor, but laughs at every single joke Mr. Thompson makes — even the terrible ones — convinced it’s the right political move. Her personality blends earnestness with obliviousness, making her both unintentionally funny and occasionally frustrating. She’s convinced Greg can “hack her cats” and regularly prints out emails “for security.”
Despite her quirks, she is generally harmless, well‑meaning, and deeply attached to routine, her cats, and the illusion that things are under control.
